“How long will it take?” is one of the first things clients ask us. The answer has two parts: how long the whole process takes, from your first call to the day everything is up, and how long the installation itself takes on the day. So, after 38 years of making and installing blinds and curtains in Johannesburg and Pretoria, here’s our honest guide to both.
The short answer
- The installation itself is quick. About 10 to 15 minutes per blind. A 3-bedroom house takes about half a day, and a large house usually one day.
- The full process, from first call to installation, is about 3 weeks for blinds and curtains, and about 5 to 6 weeks for shutters.
The full timeline: from first call to installation
- You contact us. Call, WhatsApp or fill in our form.
- Free home consultation: usually within 1 to 3 days. We book the first open slot, depending on how busy we are. Then we bring our samples and expertise, measure every window and talk through your options with you.
- Your quote: the next day. You receive a detailed, all-inclusive quotation the day after your consultation.
- You give us the go-ahead. Pay a 50% deposit (with the balance before installation), or pay in full and get 7.5% discount.
- We confirm your installation date. About 3 to 4 days after your payment reflects, we let you know the date, so you can plan around it.
- Next, we manufacture your order in our own Edenvale workshop.
- Finally, installation day. Our own team installs, tests everything and cleans up afterwards.
How long does manufacturing take?

| Product | From order to installation |
|---|---|
| Blinds (roller, Venetian and more) | About 3 weeks |
| Curtains, including wave curtains | About 3 weeks |
| Shutters | About 5 to 6 weeks |
| Imported fabric not in stock | Can take longer. We tell you upfront. |
However, if a fabric you choose isn’t in stock, we tell you during the quoting process. That way, there are no surprises later.
How long does the installation itself take?
Our team trains well, uses the best equipment and does this every day. As a result, the work goes quickly. Here’s a good guide:
| Job | Approximate time |
|---|---|
| One blind | 10 to 15 minutes |
| One curtain | Up to about an hour, depending on size |
| Shutters | About 1 to 1½ hours per window |
| Motorised blinds | Add 5 to 10 minutes for programming (a wall-switch setup takes about an hour) |
| A 3-bedroom house | About half a day |
| A large house | Usually one day |
In addition, we use battery-operated tools, so load-shedding and power cuts don’t stop the job. Our drills also have a vacuum attached, so dust doesn’t land on your floor.
What can slow an installation down?
The house isn’t ready yet
We’re usually the last team to arrive on a building or renovation project. We come in after the painters finish and after someone cleans the windows and the inside of the house. That’s because dust and paint can damage the fabrics you’ve paid good money for. For this reason, it’s worth waiting until everyone else has finished.
No access or too many people around
Similarly, if we can’t get to the windows, or lots of people and furniture stand in the way, the job takes longer.
Very high windows
Double-volume and very high windows may need scaffolding. Putting it up and taking it down adds time. However, we plan for it, and we include it in your quote.
Can it be done faster?
Yes, in special cases. If you need your blinds urgently, for example before moving in or before a special event, we offer an express option for blinds, and we can also discuss curtains with you. An express order carries a surcharge and moves your order to the front of the queue. As a result, we can often finish it in about a week. Of course, it depends on the size of the order, so speak to us early and we’ll tell you what’s possible.
How to prepare for installation day
For example, a little preparation makes the day quicker and smoother:
- Make sure the windows are clean, and that the painters and builders have finished.
- Move furniture away from the windows, so we don’t need to move things around.
- Clear windowsills of ornaments and plants.
- Make sure we have access to all the rooms on the day.
In short, when you plan ahead, we plan ahead, and the installation goes even quicker.
